The Fall of Troy in Toronto, Ontario on April 7th, 2006 to perform at Toronto's Opera House with Poison the Well, HORSE the Band and Criteria.
Full-view, please. The colours seem really washed out in the mini-view.
I wanted to hold onto this one for awhile, but I didn't want to wait. They were great guys and we all had a great time overall.
Several from this series may appear in a magazine which is yet to be named. Updates as they come, I suppose.
A few of the other ones might make it up, but this was my personal pick of the litter, mostly because the background mural, at least in person, looks like it's being fabricated out of nothing and is really incongruous with the rest of the area, which is sorta dirty and industrial. I hope I was able to convey that feeling somewhat.
This is my first attempt at this sort of thing on a "professional" level, in that I've never done anything set like this with a touring act. Hope the results are enjoyable, and any and all crit. welcome. Esp. about improvements.
photo is taken at f2.8 ISO 200 in warm, afternoon sunlight in an alley in downtown Toronto with a 15mm fisheye, which, when attached to a Canon 20D body makes it a 24mm - 26mm-ish lens, due to mag.
enjoy,
.k.
First off, congrats on this mag. gig. Thats freakin awesome!
Secondly I really like this photo dude. I love the colors and the location. I also like it cause it doesn't give off that stupid "tough guy" band image. To me it just real. Just 3 guys chillin out who just happen to be in a band. Kinda reminds you that all these bands that we love and admire are just real people like you and me. I think you've kinda captured that in this. I don't know if that was intentional or what but meh... who really cares?
Thanks bro!
And yeah, that was part of what I was trying to do. I got the call to do the shoot less than 24 hours from when it had to be done, so I was scrambling to see if I could get something "fun" together, but then just figured I'd let them do their thing, and just do my best to have it be as natural as possible with as little of that contrived sorta attitude.
thanks again man,
.k.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
